The History of the Nazi's and their fondness and use of 'pagan' or 'paganish' ( Wagner's mythologies, etc.) is well known. What is less well known is that with the rise of neo-paganism and it's pride of being tolerant, many neo-Nazi's have exploited this 'tolerance' to both expound their philosophies and attempt to recruit new members.
It should be understood that the use of some of these forums for recruiting purposes may not be known to the owners of the boards. It is important therefore, to check and see if YOUR pagan board is 'listed' as a 'friendly' or exploitable resource in order to stem this.
People frequently do not understand that objecting to certain groups or people posting on their forums is NOT a 'freedom of speech' issue. Since recruitment is the main goal of most of the Neo-Nazi groups, they follow a predictable pattern.
For example , a conversation may start about 'blood lines' and it's connection to religion. This is and of itself is not problematical and is usually debated and dealt with on the ostensible level in which it is introduced. However, people attempting to recruit will look for people who appear to share a particular view ( 'purity' of blood and/or race). The hate group representative will then contact a 'likely' target personally.
They can be very persuasive and often mask their true ideology in religious terms and phrases. One must examine very carefully such discussions and 'force' the issue for what a particular poster is ACTUALLY saying. If a board knows it has a member of one of these Nazi organizations on their board, then the people on the board, especially the young one's who may lack reliable history and information ARE at risk. It is essential to 'name and shame' and to show the recruiter up for what they represent. To be passive has been shown historically to be handing these kinds the key to one's resources.
It is also good to remember that these groups work with the tried and true 'cell' method. The people that pull the strings remain in the shadows: rarely will they post. The most likely posters will be either young and eager recruits or new groups . These people are considered completely disposable to those at the top end of each organization.
These groups are not all talk. Anybody reading the news can see that. Although most of the killings by Neo Nazi groups are being done on the European Mainland, the numbers are rising in the U.K. These people are dangerous, the closer to the 'inner circle' one gets, the more dangerous it becomes for that person. Football hooliganism is one end of the spectrum. The other is simply killing people for being Jewish, gay, black, Romany, or ANY one seen as a 'race traitor'.
Remember, it is easier to get into one of these groups than to get out again.
